EDB Launches Sri Lanka Expo 2012 Website

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board recently launched the official website of Sri Lanka Expo 2012, www.srilankaexpo.com with line of this event, “partnering with hub of Asia”. The Sri Lanka Expo 2012, International Expo Trade Exhibition has been scheduled to be held from 28th to 30th March 2012 at the Srimavo Bandaranayke Exhibition Centre in Colombo. This event will be organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board with the support of the private and public sector.

The key objective of this exhibition is to promote Sri Lanka as a strategically important economic centre of the world as a wonder of Asia stated in “Mahinda Chintana Vision for the Future”. It is targeted to promote Trade, Investment and Tourism sectors in this exhibition considering potential of the vast income generation to the country as well.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of this website, Mr. Janaka Ratnayake Chairman and Chief Executive of Sri Lanka Export Development Board said that this exhibition will organize after 15 years and will play a significant role to achieve target of US$ 15 billion exports by 2015. He also emphasized that the export performance of first four months of 2011 was very encouraging as the statistics reveals a remarkable improvement compared to the corresponding period of 2010.

Sri Lanka Expo 2012 provides opportunities to display and promote quality export products on a single platform and over 300 Sri Lankan exporters participate covering the entire product range of traditional and non traditional products and services. The organizers expect over 1000 overseas buyers from strategic markets.

In addition this exhibition will extend an opportunity for the business community for various events for the expansion of their business activities. Symposium on the themes related to creating awareness on the conducive investment climate and Sri Lanka‘s image as a trade and tourist destination will be organized with the participation of internationally recognized business leaders as key note speakers.
